Elkins is pleased to offer 2 new courses: SOLAR - Introduction to Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Design & Installation (Solar Panel Installation Course) and FIBER OPTICS - Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT). Refer to the “Courses” section above for the current US Course Schedule.

The SOLAR - Photovoltaic (PV) System Design & Installation Course is designed to provide students with the knowledge required to pass the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Entry Level Exam. Elkins in an approved provider of the NABCEP Entry Level Exam. NABCEP offers certifications and certificate programs and began by creating a certification program for solar electric installers—referred to as the NABCEP™ Solar PV Installer Certification. Elkins Solar Course will be taught both locally and onsite with our corporate clients.

The FIBER OPTIC - Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) Course has been added to the Elkins portfolio of courses and is approved by the Fiber Optic Association (FOA). Other upcoming courses to be added soon are Advanced Fiber Optic Technician (AFOT), Certified Fiber Optic Technician for FTTx (CFxT) and Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT) along with other Specialist Certifications in Testing, Design, Splicing, Connectors. In today's high tech world, certification is considered proof of professional status and is often required for jobs. The FOA was chartered to approve schools offering training and provide certifications as a service to the fiber optic industry. The FOA programs are developed and maintained by experts in the fiber optic business, most of whom have over 20 years of experience as technicians, installers, manufacturers and teachers of fiber optics. Elkins Fiber Optic courses will be held locally along with onsite training for our corporate clients.

Elkins Marine Training International Center (EMTIC) opening soon

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – The Elkins companies are pleased to announce the opening of Elkins Marine Training International Center (EMTIC), soon. Located in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the new company will provide world-class training to seafarers, Coast Guard personnel, the fishing industry and individuals related to shipping and port operations in the entire GCC region. A state-of-the-art training facility will provide traditional seamanship, navigation and safety training, as well as training for new technologies using advanced Navigation and Radio Simulator equipment.

Lagos, Nigeria – Elkins Marine Training International (Nigeria) Managing Director, Otunba (Dr.) Hugh Friday Nwaneri, is pleased to announce that the Governor of Imo State has approved an allocation of 2.2 hectares of land to EMTIN, for the purpose of building a world-class maritime safety and security school.

Doha, Qatar - Like Bahrain, which is home to the Navy’s 5th Fleet, Qatar is also a vital ally to the United States. Qatar hosts the U.S. Combat Air Operations Center for the Middle East at Al Udeid Airbase, just south of Doha. Elkins Marine Training International (EMTI) began its training operations in Qatar in September, 2006 with training of Coast Guard personnel. Since that time, Elkins has worked with various government agencies to provide highly specialized, customized training courses of diverse types.
